I observed not just here at Davao City, but also around the country, that there are a number of basketball players who only play for PAY, these are applicable to Commercial Players and Professional Players. However, there are other who take it to another level. They call it PANALAY. What is PANALAY? It is a betting game. Players bet money or any monetary item with a game of Basektball. Yup! unike Poker and all the betting games, this requires skills, teamwork and all hardwork. Yes. This is some serious SHIzzzzT. Some players die or get hurt because of the level of play being displayed.

I interviewed one of the known people at Davao City in the line of Basketball, Mr. Andrew Nidea, the basketball manager for the Dondon Hontiveros Basketball Camp here in Davao and also a Commercial Player for Pawsome Basketball Team, "There are some people who need the money, some want to prove themselves and some just like to play a serious, competitive game. Usually, the teams consist of players who have known each other and played with each other for a long time."

Actually, in my point of view, we all have our reasons in playing a "Panalay" game. May it be for a source of living or a hobby.

As the saying goes, Be it Pay-For-Play, or Just the passion to play,  "Ball is LIFE."

PEACE OUT!

T here are players in different places who set up pick up games for other players and in turn, make it a tool to spread the holy word. They are such good examples for all of us. I went to these sessions and indeed it enlightened me, as we felt the presence of the Lord around us. I could see that the players are finding their way to the Lord. Okay. If you're a Coach, Trainer, or just a Regular player who wants to improve in the game of basketball, you have to consider these things: Acceptance, Training and Humility. Let's first start with Acceptance . Let's learn to accept that there is no perfect player and we are all destined to improve. So, don't go yapping around telling everyone that you're a "Complete" player because you're not. I repeat, YOU ARE NOT. Just around the corner, There's always someone BETTER than you. Accept the fact that we are all students of the game and the game is our teacher. Next, Training. What training do you need? Take note: NEED . Not, WANT. If you need strength because your too weak, then do strength training. If you're slow, then do speed drills. There are various training regimens that you can take to increase your level of play. But, ofcourse, you have to gain playing experience and put the training to play - that is your gauge. In our ...
