Pinoy Basketball - WE NEVER BACK DOWN

This photo was taken in Holiday Gym and Spa, Davao City

We often encounter the question, why is Basketball the national sport in the Philippines? Well, i can't blame them. We, Filipinos have an average height of 5'7". Which means, we're short. But, why basketball? Easy. We have the heart, the determination to win and the warrior in us. That "Bida" attitude in us. We always want to be the underdog. It's challenging but, the fun is unexplainable. The sense of fulfillment after defeating or even have a close match with a powerhouse team is beyond happiness and satisfaction.

Philippines is labelled as the most entertaining team in Asia. Our unending tenacity and perseverance to win is respected by top athletes all over the world. WE NEVER BACK DOWN.

Be proud that you're a Filipino Basketball Player.

PUSONG PILIPINO, PUSONG PALABAN!

1st Pawsome Commercial Team ( Top L-R) Andrew "The Boss" Nidea, Jett "The Beast" Matela, Jericho "Chef Curry" Bolo, Hermo "Assassin" Maning. (Bottom L-R) Captain Eugene Maning, Erick "The Fire Ball" Loquez, Vincent "The Master" Marasigan I observed not just here at Davao City, but also around the country, that there are a number of basketball players who only play for PAY, these are applicable to Commercial Players and Professional Players. However, there are other who take it to another level. They call it PANALAY . What is PANALAY ? It is a betting game. Players bet money or any monetary item with a game of Basektball. Yup! unike Poker and all the betting games, this requires skills, teamwork and all hardwork . Yes. This is some serious SHIzzzzT . Some players die or get hurt because of the level of play being displayed. Andrew Nidea with the PBA Sharp Shooter, Dondon Hontiveros I interviewed one of the k...

Morning Basketball Rush - Ross Gomez

Okay . So, here we are again to another article from mr. Ross Gomez. I was shocked when i saw the statistics. The article was a smashing hit. Because of it, Basketball and Autism, which a lot of positive hits, i asked him to make another write-up for the blog. So, here it goes: "I t is a good day here at Davao City. As I woke up and check my Facebook status I was shocked that my face was on the picture of a link of a shared article from this site. I hovered the news feed and tagged posts for likes. So much for the introductory part, may I proceed for what happened this morning. I saw kids on a nearby Subdivision coming as I warm myself for the day. What seems for me to do my routine in that court turned out as a opportunity to mentor young kids approximately around 13-17 years old. These players are ballers of a small school here in Davao called Kids Camp Innovative Learning Center and other small schools near our subdivision. I saw that they have the potential to...

Ateneo Reunion Cup (ARC)

W hy do Ateneans from Davao City hold this kind of prestigious event? It is not because of the money - there is no major cash price for the winners. It is because of the thrill, pride and unity that makes every Atenean in each batch join the league every december. Note, the entrance doesn't come cheap. Every year, starting from june up to the tournament proper, players start to tone up, work out and practice to get the crown.  As most of us know, Ateneans are known for their pride and strong attitude. So, they NEVER BACK DOWN. To do that, they come prepared. However, as i have mentioned, it is more than just a league or a game. It is more than the cash price or the trophy. It's the time when batchmates tend to meet and bond once again as they used to when they were in high school.  Some would wait for the tournament to end so that there will be a fellowship to be held usually at a privately rented function area in a certain restobar. There will be a feast of b...
