What Coaches want to consider about training a player.

Okay. If you're a Coach, Trainer, or just a Regular player who wants to improve in the game of basketball, you have to consider these things: Acceptance, Training and Humility.

Let's first start with Acceptance. Let's learn to accept that there is no perfect player and we are all destined to improve. So, don't go yapping around telling everyone that you're a "Complete" player because you're not. I repeat, YOU ARE NOT. Just around the corner, There's always someone BETTER than you. Accept the fact that we are all students of the game and the game is our teacher.

Next, Training. What training do you need? Take note: NEED. Not, WANT. If you need strength because your too weak, then do strength training. If you're slow, then do speed drills. There are various training regimens that you can take to increase your level of play. But, ofcourse, you have to gain playing experience and put the training to play - that is your gauge. In our next segments, i will give tips and sample training regimens for your information and for you to further improve your game. However, in order to achieve such and to further realize the training, you got to have the drive and the determination to improve. Discipline and Consistency should be practiced. Train or stay the same.

Lastly, Humility. After all these things, acceptance and training, you have to be humble. Humility is the key to improvement. Never put other people down. You've been through all that which makes you have no right to belittle someone who is willing to learn the sport and do good. Humility makes you want to improve and train for yourself.

Never ever forget to thank the Lord for everything. He gives you the strength to improve.

Thank you very much everyone for reading this Blog. As for our next blog, we are going to have insights from the training coach of the Holy Cross of Davao College about his training program.

Watch out!

Basketball - A Tool for Christ

H ave you noticed that every before and after games, players huddle up and form a circle while holding their hands up high with heads down? Their praying. Asking God for guidance and safety. Why? Faith. Faith is what drives them throughout the game. As the term goes, "Salig Lang," which means Trust in the Lord and just leave it to him. T here are players in different places who set up pick up games for other players and in turn, make it a tool to spread the holy word. They are such good examples for all of us. I went to these sessions and indeed it enlightened me, as we felt the presence of the Lord around us. I could see that the players are finding their way to the Lord. CCF Sports Ministry  Sessions (C) Aris Paguyo           L ike in Davao City, there's an organization there, CCF Sports Ministry, or the Christ Commission Fellowship Sports Ministry, who does the same. Morning Basketball Rush - Ross Gomez

Okay . So, here we are again to another article from mr. Ross Gomez. I was shocked when i saw the statistics. The article was a smashing hit. Because of it, Basketball and Autism, which a lot of positive hits, i asked him to make another write-up for the blog. So, here it goes: "I t is a good day here at Davao City. As I woke up and check my Facebook status I was shocked that my face was on the picture of a link of a shared article from this site. I hovered the news feed and tagged posts for likes. So much for the introductory part, may I proceed for what happened this morning. I saw kids on a nearby Subdivision coming as I warm myself for the day. What seems for me to do my routine in that court turned out as a opportunity to mentor young kids approximately around 13-17 years old. These players are ballers of a small school here in Davao called Kids Camp Innovative Learning Center and other small schools near our subdivision. I saw that they have the potential to...

Ateneo Reunion Cup (ARC)

W hy do Ateneans from Davao City hold this kind of prestigious event? It is not because of the money - there is no major cash price for the winners. It is because of the thrill, pride and unity that makes every Atenean in each batch join the league every december. Note, the entrance doesn't come cheap. Every year, starting from june up to the tournament proper, players start to tone up, work out and practice to get the crown.  As most of us know, Ateneans are known for their pride and strong attitude. So, they NEVER BACK DOWN. To do that, they come prepared. However, as i have mentioned, it is more than just a league or a game. It is more than the cash price or the trophy. It's the time when batchmates tend to meet and bond once again as they used to when they were in high school.  Some would wait for the tournament to end so that there will be a fellowship to be held usually at a privately rented function area in a certain restobar. There will be a feast of b...
